NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge on Thursday to check on his health.
In a post on X, PM Modi said, “Spoke to Kharge Ji. Enquired about his health and wished him a speedy recovery . Praying for his continued well-being and long life.”
Acknowledging the message, Kharge said in his post, “Thank you for the wishes, @narendramodi ji.”
Kharge, 83, and the leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha opposition, was admitted to a private hospital in Bengaluru late Tuesday night after experiencing uneasiness and breathlessness.
Doctors said he had a viral fever last week, and his heart rate was low upon admission.
He underwent an angiogram and pacemaker procedure on Wednesday afternoon at 2 pm and is reported to be in stable condition. Kharge remains under observation in the hospital’s cardiac ICU and is expected to be shifted to a regular ward on Friday.
Earlier, on September 24, Kharge participated in an extended Congress Working Committee meeting in Patna, Bihar. He is scheduled to address a public rally in Kohima, Nagaland , on October 7. The rally, themed “Safe Democracy, Safe Secularism, and Safe Nagaland,” is expected to draw at least 10,000 people and will focus on youth employment, entrepreneurship, good governance, and road connectivity.
