NBA on NBC is the brand-new show for fans after the game ends, as the league returns to the broadcast channel after 23 long years. As Inside the NBA takes a backseat, it's NBA on NBC that's going to give fans their fodder at the end of the final whistle. And bringing the show to us are hosts Maria Taylor, Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady, and of course, NBA Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony . Melo showed up for the debut episode in a tan tracksuit and sunglasses while his co-hosts had sharp suits on, and this anomaly caught the eye of many fans, who trolled the NBA All-Star for his dressing style. Now, Melo has clapped back, saying he is going to wear what he pleases, and not care about what anyone says about him and his style.
Carmelo Anthony couldn't care less about fans trolling his choice of clothing
Carmelo Anthony was courtside for the first game of the 2025-26 regular season, which saw the Oklahoma City Thunder take on the Houston Rockets. He was there as part of NBA on NBC, and brought his usual style and charisma to the screen, sporting a casual look in a tan tracksuit and sunglasses. Fans trolled him for his choice of clothing, saying he looked way too casual as opposed to his co-hosts, but Melo doesn't care for all that. Talking to NBA insider Marc Stein, Anthony said,
"Of course [it caused a stir]. I’m going to be me. I’m going to bring me to the screen."
As Melo further explained, he is going to wear what he is comfortable in. He is there to do a job, and he wants to do that to the best of his capacity - not focus on what to wear and what not to wear. He will wear what he is comfortable in, and it's his insight on the game that got him the job, so he would rather focus on that than anything else.
New York native not too hopeful about New York Knicks' championship campaign
Carmelo Anthony is a New Yorker through and through, and has even played around 7 seasons for the city's home team - the New York Knicks. But if you ask him, Melo is not too hopeful about the team's chances for a successful campaign this season, not with the start they have had so far. In the same interview with Marc Stein, he said,
"I don't know about winning one. I think the opportunity for them to get to the Finals … they have that opportunity. Now winning, that's something different, winning a championship. But I will say I like the Knicks' chances of coming out of the East."
The Knicks have had some injury-related issues early in the season, and so far, out of the 4 matches they have played, the team has won 2 and lost 2. Hopefully, they can make their way out of the slump they are in, and bring back their winning ways to the MSG soon.
