Not every broadband provider also offers you a mobile plan as part of a bundle, but one firm that does is Virgin Media O2. Since Virgin Media merged with O2 in 2021, the companies have closer aligned their products, though this has not necessarily always come with added value.
Virgin Media offers a broadband bundle called Volt, which includes a fibre broadband service with a new O2 SIM card and mobile plan. These bundles are often quite pricey, but now you can pick from three different tiers of mobile plan rather than being lumped with one default one, which could end up saving you money or opening up more value.
At the time of writing, Virgin's Volt bundle costs £84.99 per month on a 24-month plan, with price rises in April 2026 and 2027. This includes 1,130Mbps broadband, the fastest available, more than 230 TV channels and Netflix standard with ads, plus Sky Cinema HD and Sky Sports HD.
You also get an O2 Classic Plan SIM, which includes unlimited minutes and texts, free roaming in 75 destinations and an Extra from O2 for three months. Extras include subscriptions to services such as Disney+, Amazon Prime or Xbox Game Pass.
That's all quite a lot even if the plan is expensive, and is a way to roll your broadband, TV and mobile payments into one bill.
This is where the change has come in. For new and upgrading customers, you can now pick from three mobile plans rather than be stuck with the Classic Plan.
For just £1.99 extra per month (with increases every April) you can get the Plus Plan, which has all the perks of the Classic Plan but lets you rollover unused data into the next month and pick an Extra for six months, double the time.
Or, for £10.49 per month extra before increases you can get the Ultimate Plan, which has everything on the Plus except roaming is free in 123 destinations and you get an Extra for the lifetime of your Ultimate Plan.
Bear in mind these SIM plans do not come with a handset.
Though Virgin is giving you more flexibility on these bundles, bear in mind you could potentially get a cheaper deal if you shop around. The Volt bundle's foundation is a £69.99 per month broadband and TV package, which the SIM plan is then added on top of. The Classic Plan is £15 per month, Plus Plan is £16.99 and Ultimate Plan is £25.49.
Consider if you need all the services Virgin Media O2 is offering here, as while bundles can be attractive, the overall cost of the Volt bundle rises by almost £6 each April.
You may be able to find a broadband package from one provider at a cheaper rate for what you need, and you might be able to spend less on a mobile plan, too.
While most broadband firms enforce annual price rises, several phone providers such as Giffgaff do not ever charge more than the monthly rate you sign up at. Such plans can also offer more flexibility to pay for more or less data as and when you need it.
