In upcoming scenes on ITV's Emmerdale, Charity Dingle (played by Emma Atkins) is unnerved that her important scan may reveal the baby isn't the implanted embryo. Her cousin Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) exacerbates her concerns. When Charity returns home to Jacob Gallagher (Joe Warrant Plant) and Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill), discussing babies looking like their fathers, she erupts at them before later apologising.
The following day, Sarah is left gutted when Charity says the scan has been cancelled. Later on, Chas confronts Charity, who finally confesses her paranoia that the scan may reveal the foetus is not the one implanted into her. While waiting in the hospital with Chas, she's scared that the scan will unearth the truth.
However, Charity feels some relief when the sonographer is unable to detect anything untoward during the appointment. But Charity is caught off guard when Chas spots her staring affectionately at the baby appearing on the scan.
While it seems Chatity has gotten away with lying about the scan appointment, Jacob soon spots her at the end of a corridor. Will Charity be able to make up a lie and trick Jacob-or will the youngster start probing her?
Charity is meant to be her grandchild, Sarah's surrogate, as the character is desperate to become a mother but cannot conceive after having an emergency hysterectomy earlier this year.
She recently entered a relationship with Jacob, and the pair are looking forward to raising a child together in Emmerdale.
However, Charity ended up cheating on her husband, Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) and sleeping with her ex, Ross Barton, during the same time she said she'd be a surrogate. She's fearful that everyone will find out she's carrying Ross' child.
Sarah, Mackenzie and Jacob are none the wiser, and Charity wants to keep her affair a secret.
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and ITVX.
