Starting the day with a coffee is practically a ritual for some people, but buying a shop-bought cup every day can quickly add up. If you've ever fancied being able to make a café-style brew at home without splashing out on a high-end machine, right now Morphy Richards has kicked off its Black Friday sale with a great discount on itsmanual compact espresso machine.
It's one of the many discounted appliances in the brand's early Black Friday sale, now reduced from £169.99 to £98 - a saving of over 40%, and it has great reviews. Customers have rated it 4.4 out of a possible five stars, with one person saying it is "simply the best coffee machine I have used".
According to Morphy Richards, the appliance is designed to deliver barista-quality coffee without taking up your entire counter space. It's very compact, measuring 31.3cm, 13.8cm and 30.4cm deep and weighing 3.8kg, so it's ideal for smaller kitchens or anyone tired of instant coffee.
Despite its compact size, the stainless steel finish lends it a modern, professional appearance, and the exterior is easy to wipe clean.
The machine features a 15-bar pressure pump for rich, smooth espresso and works with both ground coffee and pods, giving you plenty of flexibility. It is compatible with Easy Serve Espresso (E.S.E.) pods, which are available from brands such as illy, Lavazza, Caffe Borbone, and can be bought from large supermarkets and Amazon.
It has a one-litre removable water tank, a drip tray for easy cleaning, and a steam wand that allows you to froth milk for cappuccinos or lattes. You can also choose between single and double cup filters, allowing you to make either a strong espresso or a larger, double-shot coffee.
Other handy features include an auto shut-off function that powers down the machine after a period of inactivity.
Even if you're not a coffee expert, shoppers have said it's easy to use. One review said: "The espresso comes out super silky and very flavourful, even better than my Smeg coffee machine. It's compact and very easy to set up. I would definitely recommend it to every coffee lover."
Another person added: "It's a modern, sleek, compact design that would suit any kitchen. It makes the perfect coffee of your choice with the steam milk frother incorporated."
That said, a few reviewers mention the machine vibrates quite a bit. One shopper wrote: "There should be a low water warning as the water reservoir is hard to see, and sometimes it vibrates enough to move a cup such that the coffee misses it."
