Olympian Denise Lewis has parted ways with his husband, music mogul Steve Finan. The BBC star and Steve separated two years ago, but only broke the news tonight in a bombshell social media post. Denise wrote: "After much thought and consideration, Steve and I decided to separate two years ago as a couple. This decision was made with mutual respect and care for one another after many meaningful years together. We remain grateful for the time we shared and the wonderful children created."
The gold medalist added: "We value the kindness and support from our family and friends over the last two years, and our priority moving forward is maintaining a positive co-parenting relationship and focusing on the well-being of those we care about most."
She concluded: "We appreciate your understanding of privacy during this time as we move forward. Denise."
Denise included the song Teardrop by Massive Attack on her Instagram Stories to accompany her words.
The pair got married in 2006, having met six years prior at the Brit Awards, where they were introduced by mutual friends.
However, they were friends at first as Denise was married to her first husband, Patrick Stevens.
Denise began her relationship with Belgian sprinter Patrick in the late 1990s, but they parted ways in 2005. The couple share a daughter together, named Lauryn.
"I was still with Patrick when I first met Steve, then we met again more recently, and it was sort of love at second sight," she told The Mirror.
Denise has not posted the news of the separation on her Instagram grid yet - the heartfelt message is only on her Stories for now.
The sports presenter's husband has not been pictured with her on her social media for many years, despite the star often uploading snippets of her life to her many followers.
