Gogglebox family flooded with support after emotional announcement about unseen mum

Gogglebox favourite Baasit Siddiqui has received an outpouring of support from devoted fans following a touching family announcement.

The television personality rose to prominence when he appeared in the inaugural series of the Channel 4 programme back in 2013, along with the rest of his family.

Throughout the years, Baasit has been accompanied by his two siblings, Umar and Raza, plus their dad Sid, whilst relaxing on the famous sofa. His mother, Nasreen, though, has remained absent from the programme.

It's safe to say the family quickly won over audiences nationwide. Across the years, the Siddiquis - who reside in Derby - have left viewers in hysterics with their brilliant quips and amusing commentary on television's biggest moments.

Beyond the cameras, Baasit enjoys wedded bliss with spouse Melissa. The couple share two youngsters, Amelia and Theodore, reports the Manchester Evening News.

However, this week Baasit found himself surrounded by encouragement after revealing significant news about his cherished family, disclosing that his mum had recently marked another birthday. Posting on his Instagram account, the television personality shared multiple photographs from his summer break.

The collection featured images of Melissa and their little ones exploring woodland areas. Baasit also posted an adorable photograph of his seldom-seen mother Nasreen extinguishing candles on a celebratory cake.

In his message, he detailed each image and penned: "Little photo dump as I've not had a chance to post lately...still the summer holidays for us and pretty sure our kids are the last to go back.

"1) Training the kids ready to take over the @c4gogglebox sofa P.S. It's back on this Friday - us not the kids. 2) Me and Theodore ready for battle. 3) Theodore found a hole.... was tempted to leave him but @mel_siddiqui said I wasn't allowed.

"4) Theodore is going to miss breakfast in bed with Mummy. 5) Kids trying to figure out what this "machine" is. 6. Cake to celebrate Mum's Birthday. 7) The boys taking 16382638 photos of EVERYTHING. 8) Feeding Wallabies - birthday day out for Harley. 9) Amelia loved this one. 10) Mel and Theodore enjoying a bench coffee chat."

He subsequently remarked: "11) Mel's completed her final training run ready for the Great North Run on Sunday....my turn to spectate this time think I'm more nervous about getting lost than she is about running it @great_run.

"Autumn definitely feels like it's peaking through the last few days •* but we are holding onto the last few days of summer before it's back to school next week....are yours little ones back? Hope you have all had a great summer!".

Supporters quickly flooded the comments section to express their good wishes to Baasit's mum, following her birthday festivities.

One individual commented: "Some lovely photos there, hope your mum had a lovely birthday, Mel will ace her run."

Another person contributed: "Happy Birthday to your Mum. Lovely Photos." A third person remarked: "I always love seeing your amazing memories you make, such a wonderful family. Happy birthday to your mum too."

Gogglebox series 26 starts on Friday, September 5th, 2025, on Channel 4.
