Arsenal next two transfers after Piero Hincapie decided as Andrea Berta plan emerges

Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie. The Gunners have spent over £250million on seven players in the summer transfer window so far, and there is hope that at least one more can arrive before Monday's 7pm deadline.

football.london understands that Hincapiewill sign on a season-long loan with a £45m option to buy for the Gunners. It is understood that a medical will soon be scheduled, and he could make his Arsenal debut against Nottingham Forest after the international break.

Hincapie, 23, joined Leverkusen from Argentine Premier League team Talleres in August 2021 and has since made a significant impact in Germany. The Ecuadorian has played 166 times for Leverkusen, netting seven goals and securing three trophies, including the Bundesliga in the 2023/24 season.

And once a deal for Hincapie is completed - attention will then turn to outgoings at the Emirates Stadium. Oleksandr Zinchenko has fallen down the pecking order in north London and may look for a move away from the club in search of more game time.

The full-back has found himself behind Myles Lewis-Skelly, Riccardo Calafiori and Jurrien Timber in terms of selection. He has not been included in the Arsenal squad for the first two games of the season amid speculation over his future.

The Athletic report that French Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille are working on a deal to sign the Ukrainian on a permanent deal. However, the report adds that Zinchenko’s salary presents a significant issue.

Meanwhile, Jakub Kiwior could also be on his way out. The centre-back has been linked with a move away from Arsenal this summer in search of more game time, with the arrival of Cristhian Mosquera pushing him further down the pecking order.

The defender was an unused substitute against Leeds United last weekend. Both AC Milan and Porto are said to be showing an interest in the 25-year-old.
